Facing Divorce

The shock of my divorce brought me to counselling.

Time wasn't helping me cope or understand, but counselling helped me accept that I don't need to understand, I need to learn to accept and move forward. Much of what I experienced is still sinking in, with discoveries about myself that have been both helpful and insightful. I'm no longer going round and round in circles; I'm still saddened by events, but I accept the loss and pain and try to focus on myself and my life.

I'm less burdened now, though still hurt. My friends tell me I'm brighter and happier than I've been in a long time, and I don't dwell on this or try to analyse it anymore. I'd recommend counselling to anyone who is really struggling to move forward.
